There is no greater malady that can befall one’s Golf game than the dreaded shank. One can make light of Hoseltov but watching your ball shoot off perpendicular to your intended target is enough to make you question whether there is a better way to make walking more interesting.

I found myself wondering if the problem was in my hands or mind. However, after hitting several hundred chips, running through some drills, watching a Butch Harmon DVD and taping my swing, I realised the problem was in my arse!

It seems I had developed the habit of moving my backside offline during my shorter swings on chips. This meant I was swaying into the ball and creating the dreaded shank. Now, if only I could carry a pole and a rope with me on the course.
