Two Years ago today, we arrived in Delhi. I still recall the pilot’s announcement when we landed, “welcome to Delhi, the time now is 12.33am and the outside temperature is very warm 43 degrees.” There were audible gasps in the cabin as people muttered “did he say 43 at this time of night?” Well it was! The next day we travelled through relentless dust storms and a scorching 48 Celsius (118.4F) to survey our new home. In fact, the temperature did not drop below 40 at any time of the day or night, for the first two weeks we were here. Thankfully we are having milder weather now. Whilst today’s maximum is 46, tonight the temperature will drop to a more bearable 31.

A few days after arriving I took this photo near Gurgaon, which to me still sums up this moment in India’s history.
