Today Is Independance Day

It is Independance Day today in India. For us this means a quiet day at home and a chance to reflect on a little history, the most interesting of which is news that the UK had planned to assassinate independence leader Bose (in some quarters here more highly regarded than Ghandi) back in 1941.

This weekend has also seen the release of the blockbuster film The Rising, based on the life of Mangal Pandey. This epic has a great cast and is sure to stir some debate.
