Back in March I reported on the problems facing Tsunami relief efforts. Today’s paper brings an update on issues in Sri Lanka. I can tell you that you will be reading a lot more about this over the next months. In Sri Lanka there are many more stories to be told, of containers full of supplies still sitting on docks uncleared and unclaimed, of fly-by-night charity “workers,” of unfinished and inadeqate building. Here in India, great things were done in building temporary homes, but six months on, survivors are still in temporary accomodation (and it is monsoon season here).

That is not to say that the aid agencies have failed; they have done great things. However, I suspect the press will start to feed off the darker stories of delays and frustrations in rebuilding as we lead into the one year anniversary of the tragedy.
