When I was younger, it was something of an annual event to slowly drive through the southern Sydney suburb of Bonnett Bay to see the Christmas decorations. I never quite understood why the neighbours of that little community chose to try and out-do each other with gaudy and tasteless light displays evoking a northern Christmas (irony not withstanding). It was the worst of suburban excess, which is perhaps what made it such and intriguing spectacle.
However, nothing I saw then could compare with this amazing light display by Carson Williams (Windows Media File link). This is a real, private, light display syncronised wonderfully to a tune by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Take a look (or as I did, take three jaw-open looks), it is incredible!
It also appears that there is a whole Christmas Light Blogosphere of which I was previously unaware. Amazing stuff. So, time to get out your lights, your favourite music and some DJ software and get to it.
