First, this week’s mail brought my Certificate in Orchestrating and Producing Music for Film and Game, from BerkleeMusic, the distance arm of Berklee College of Music in Boston. I haven’t blogged much this past year about my music studies, but I’m humbled and excited by the opportunity to keep studying with Berklee this way. This certificate adds to the one I completed in 2006 for Arranging. Right now, I’m working on a third certificate – guitar!
Second, I had hoped to follow up my level one certification in Logic Pro with a level two course and certification exam. After a year of searching, I found a local music college that was willing to put the programme together with a good tutor. However, they wanted to charge me 3-3.5 times the equivalent cost of doing that course in Europe or the US. Crazy! I’m still keen on further Logic Pro training, but will incorporate it into my international travel plans over the next two years.
Finally, I have failed at my attempt to complete the RPM challenge. This was a last minute and impulsive decision to try and write, record, mix, master and mail an album’s worth of material during the calendar month of February. However, I did learn a lot from the process (both in terms of production and my own psychology) and will still “do something” with the material. Stay tuned.
