Thanks Fern, interesting.

I wonder whether that has produced consideration or cursing in the republican party? I wonder if the hard right will be taking pot shots (metaphorical and actual) at him too.

I caught this yesterday as well. It took me most of the 7 minutes to my jaw back up after it fell. I thought Powell was very gracious and thoughtful in the way he explained his choice.

I suspect the die-hard ideologues will find a way to spin this into insignificance. But, for those closer to the middle (and those of a more self-reflective bent), it would be hard to ignore Powell’s words, especially about the way McCain has run his campaign.

For me, despite the infamous UN performance, Powell remains one of the most credible voices in the Republican ranks.
