When we packed up our house in Delhi, at the end of May, I said goodbye to my trusty HP 2300 printer. I had grown rather attached to it, since the machine had proved so reliable over three years.

Since then, I’ve been without a printer, which is something of an act of lunacy really, since I’m so wedded to editing on the printed page, with pen or pencil in hand.

In the last 24 hours, I’ve bought not one, but two new printers and in the process familiarised myself a little more with Hong Kong’s amazing (and frenetic) computer stores.

First is a simple little HP 1022, which looks basic but should do the job for now. Setting it up was a joy and reminded me of the exciting but less joy-inspiring Canon BJ-10, my first printer.

Second, is an extremly fun (and fast!) Dymo LabelWriter 400 turbo. This one came at L’s instance – she has been on a Getting Things Done drive lately, inspired by the 43 Folders blog.

Now I just have to subdue the irrational desire to buy an A3 laser printer for master staves (music) and I’ll be set!
