It’s Chinese New Year. Whilst it is a time of much celeration and family festivity, the centre of Hong Kong is suprisingly quiet, much like what we associate with Christmas Day in the west. I’ll be adding some pictures to Flickr over the next few days.

In China itself, there has been a rush of pregnacies as this coming year is meant to be auspicious for children born into it. There has also been something of a controversy surrounding whether or not this really is a “golden” year. This is a rare zodical event which some claim happens once every 60 years, which would make this a year of the Godlen Pig, but others suggesting it only happens once every 600 years, which would would make this just another ordinary Pig.
