A Corner In Oaxaca

My recent adventure in Mexico was so full of highlights. I’ve stood, in scorching sunlight, on a mountain filled with 2,500 year old ruins and crouched by candlelight among locals keeping vigil for Dia de los Muertos.

But, now I’m back in Singapore and there are definitely some things I’m looking forward to; like seeing my family and sleeping in my bed. In no particular order, here’s some familiar experiences that will make me smile.

Not having to do currency conversions in my head.
Kopi-C with Kaya Toast.
Cars driving on the left hand side of the road.
Not having to wonder what tomorrow’s weather will be like.
Cooking.
Riding in clean, comfortable and modern taxis.
Drinking hot tea with my meals.
Not having to keep an eye out for pickpockets.
Really fast internet.
NETS.
Earth drenching rain and bone-shaking thunder.
Walking around my home barefoot.
Playing my guitars.

Lovely post. I can understand that travelling can take its toll and cause one to long for home but it would seem that you are now much happier after all to call Singapore your home, would that be correct? 🙂

The way it always happens for me is that I fist get those “at home” feelings coming back from a long or difficult trip. I loved my time in Mexico, but the trip home was long and slow – which probably got my mind longing for the familiarity of Singapore.
