Closing Days In Rajasthan

Most of today was spent on the road from Jaipur and there was plenty to see along the way. Today many were celebrating the marriage of Shiva and there were lots of processions and activities in local temples.

I also had a chance to see the famed 9th century step well at Abaneri. The relentless geometry of the steps was dazzling, even if the hard metal rails, lack of people and limited access made it a less than compelling location to photograph.

The next day or so will involve exploring some local villages and photographing the countryside around the fort. Then I’m back to Delhi for a little rest, which could involve seeing the latest Bollywood blockbuster, doing some shopping, or maybe just relaxing around the pool, before catching a late night flight to Hong Kong and then, after a day of fun in another former hometown, it’s off home to Tokyo.

Fern, I’m not really sure why I’ve not been over here much recently, but that’s something I need to change. I have to say that these images from India are the best I’ve seen you post so far, and to me, suggest your craft has moved up a level. The way in which you have caught expressions and used light to guide the eye through the image is really quite exceptional. Thanks for sharing here.

Toni – thank you very much. I guess you might not have been here often because, for six months or so, my blog was not every interesting and caught in a rut. I hope that’s changed now.
