It says something very sad when people see signs of hope in an error message. However, that is what is happening since early adopters of iLife ’08 are finding that files created in the new version of Garageband will not open in Logic Pro. Instead they are faced with a tantalising message that reads,
“Sorry, can’t load this song because it is created by a newer Logic Pro version.”
Added to this Logic Pro is showing up on Amazon as both available to order on August 20 and discontinued by the manufacturer. This contradiction would appear to point to a new version of Logic being available soon. In the meantime, check out this important warning: Logic Users – DO NOT INSTALL GARAGEBAND ’08! (see also here).
Of course, the question remains what shape this update would take. Logic 7.3, 7.5, 8 or even something else, who knows? Apple do and naturally, they are not telling. Roll on August 20.
