Going through some archived emails I stumbled upon a call for papers for a book on cosmopolitics, which originated from the Philosop academic list. The call came through early last year and I remember feeling desperately keen to submit something, but unable through illness to must the will to do so. This book, which is now forthcoming from Manchester University Press (expect a review from me when it is available) will add to an existing list of works that address and debate the idea of cosmopolitics. Whilst conceptually not new, cosmopolitics first registered on my radar early in 2001, hearing Pascal Lamy adressing the current moment in globalisation.
I’ve been pondering glocalisation recently as it relates to the emerging church and it does strike me that there may be some fruit in reconsidering the Cosmopolitics debate from this perspective.
