F – Fashion Photographer?

No, I’m not about to change career. However, I did quite literally, stumble upon a fashion show on Thursday night while on the way home from picking up some milk and bread. It was the Fleur de Style Gala at IFC, here in Hong Kong. So, I returned the next night, camera in tow and snapped a few pics of the Versace show.

It was an interesting, if slightly surreal experience, excusing myself from my daughter’s bath-time to take some fashion snaps. However, there was something quite “democratic” about the experience (if not about the price of the clothes). In Delhi, fashion was always on the news and in the papers, but the shows themselves were very exclusive and closed. By contrast this show was viewed by a real cross-section. Glitterati had the best seats, but there were parents with kids, office workers, shop attendants, lots of ordinary folks really.
