We need a moratorium on the phrase “some people.” Listen out for it, think about how it functions. If people want to make generalisations or speculate, then why not just say “I am now speculating,” or “I am now making a wild and unsubstantiated generalisation.”
“Some people,” is almost always a disparaging phrase that masquerades as polite piece of discourse. It is disingenous and almost toxic. There are always either better ways of making one’s point. If not, then maybe the point is not worth making.
