Late yesterday afternoon I hit the rocks. I’m not quite sure what it was, but my energy levels started sinking fast and I knew the pressure of the last few weeks was really taking it’s toll.
Actually, it had been a very good day – one of those days where things just seem to go well. My Tilt/Shift lens fell apart last week and when I took to the Nikon Service Centre they suggested it might take three weeks to fix it. However, they got in touch yesterday and the repair only ended up taking three days!
This week we’ve had some terrible rain, so I was a little worried about lugging my gear to Sheung Wan for an afternoon photoshoot. I decided to take a risk and pack everything into the rental car. Amazingly, I got a parking spot right outside the location, in one of those tight & busy Hong Kong backstreets.
The Photoshoot went well (pictures next week), but once I got home all I wanted to do was curl into bed and go to sleep. I had made plans to go out and catch up with some friends but I probably did a wise thing by cancelling.
I can’t quite name how I feel now, apart from being really tired. As I write this the removalists are in the apartment taking away the last of things, for airfreight. After that all we have left are some basics, enough clothes to pack in a suitcase and magazines.
That leaves two and a half days to say a few more goodbyes, take some photos and generally soak up the last moments of life in Hong Kong.
