Print And Ink

The first in what will be a series of limited edition prints using Black & White photos and Japanese ink. I’ve been studying Shodō (Japanese Calligraphy) for some time (I’ve written about it here and here) and wanted to incorporate brush stroke and my main work in photography. This execution is a hand drawn sumo-e ink border framing a black and white image. Printed in my studio on a Canon Pro-1 (a 12 pigment printer that uses 5 separate monochromatic cartridges to produce very impressive black and white images) using Awagami Premio Inbe Washi Paper in A3+ size (329x483mm) and 180gsm weight.

This series, once it’s ready, will be the first prints I have offered for sale in nearly five years.  I’m going to offer it in three sizes (A3+, A4, and Postcard size).  Prices to be confirmed once I actually get my head around selling again!
